RUMOR: Lakers star Anthony Davis’ target return date from injury, revealed

Anthony Davis is working his way back from a mid-foot sprain that has kept him out of the lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers for well over a month now. Based on this most recent report, it sounds like LA will be able to get their superstar big man back right on time.

According to NBA insider Dave McMenamin of ESPN Davis could be making his much-awaited comeback in a couple of weeks’ time:

If everything continues to progress well in Davis’ rehab, the All-Star big man could be suiting up for games by the first week of April, at the earliest, sources told ESPN.

The good news for the Lakers is that the Play-In tournament is scheduled to start on April 12th. If all goes according to plan, this means that Davis will be able to suit up for LA’s last few remaining regular-season games. Hopefully, this will give the eight-time All-Star enough time to get his conditioning right in time for the Play-In game.

This is of course, under the assumption that the Lakers are able to maintain (or improve) their current standing in the West. Right now, they are sitting at the ninth spot in the conference with a 31-42 record. The New Orleans Pelicans occupy the 10th and final spot for the Play-In, but the San Antonio Spurs and the Portland Trail Blazers are lurking.

LeBron James and Co. will need to keep the ship afloat until AD returns. If they lose a handful of games in the next couple of weeks then they could very well miss that Play-In game entirely.
