Victor Oladipo calls season debut for Heat 'a great first go-round' after 11-month injury absence

  Victor Oladipo's season debut Monday was relatively understated. The former All-Star guard played just 15 minutes in the Miami Heat's 123-106 victory over the Houston Rockets, but he made four of his seven shots to contribute 11 points off the bench. All in all, it was a successful opening act for Oladipo as he attempts to give the Heat one last major piece for their championship push.  "I'm still getting stronger. Still getting better," Oladipo said after the game. "That was a great first go-round, getting my feet wet. But I'm excited and looking forward to the year. Just gotta keep getting better. It's not always going to be perfect, but that's OK." Oladipo has struggled with injuries for the past several years, most recently undergoing quad surgery in May of 2021 soon after arriving in Miami in the first place. Victor Oladipo injury update: Heat guard to make season debut on Monday vs. Rockets, per report

  Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo is expected to make his season debut on Monday against the Houston Rockets, per The Athletic's Shams Charania. The former All-Star guard underwent surgery on his quad tendon last May and has not played this season. Oladipo most recently spent time with the Heat's G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, for 5-on-5 work, and he's made enough progress to return to the court after playing his last game with Miami 11 months ago. Returning against the Rockets also adds an interesting wrinkle after Oladipo was traded there from the Indiana Pacers back in January 2021. He only played in 20 games for Houston before being traded to the Heat just two months later ahead of the trade deadline. Zion Williamson posts Instagram video of monster between-the-legs dunk while recovering from foot injury

  Zion Williamson's status has been one of the great mysteries of the 2021-22 season. When he was initially diagnosed with a fractured foot, he was expected to be available in time for the beginning of the season. And then he wasn't. The New Orleans Pelicans offered only vague and inconsistent updates. Williamson himself never spoke. And now, with the season coming to an end, it appears as though Williamson won't be returning to the floor at all. After missing most of his rookie year, his third season is on track to come and go without a minute of game time as well.  Where that leaves Williamson moving forward, we can't say, but for the first time in months, the Pelicans forward gave fans a morsel of optimism.
