Klay Thompson to sit out Warriors preseason games in Japan as Kerr says he needs more time to ramp-up

Klay Thompson may have returned healthy to the Golden State Warriors last season, but the scars from his two missed seasons are still quite visible. The Warriors played their first of two preseason games against the Washington Wizards on Friday and will play another on Sunday, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that Thompson will not be playing at all during the trip to Japan. "Just feel more comfortable giving him a little more of a ramp up," Kerr said before Friday's victory over Washington. "He's just not quite ready to play at this point just based on where, you know, we're so early in camp. We just want to be safe and make sure he gets a good ramp-up before he plays in games." Typically, so little time to ramp up wouldn't be a problem for a veteran in a preseason context. The games tend to be so low-impact and demand so few minutes out of a team's best players that they can safely jog through them. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green played 1...

Giannis Antetokounmpo says Stephen Curry is best player in the world: 'The guy who wins is the best'

MILWAUKEE -- When CBS Sports' annual NBA Top 100 list was released earlier this month, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo stood alone at No. 1. Such lists are more for the fans and media rather than the players, but at Milwaukee's media day on Sunday, Giannis weighed in with his own thoughts.  To little surprise, he downplayed his own standing and declared Steph Curry the best player in the world after leading the Golden State Warriors to the title last season.  "Do I believe that I'm one of the best players in the league in the way I help my team be great and win games? "Yeah I do," Giannis said. "I'm mature enough, I'm old enough to understand that. Do I believe I'm the best in the world? No. I think the best player in the world is the person that is the last one standing, the person that takes his team to the finish line and helps them win games and become champion. "Two years ago when we did that, yeah, when I was slee...

NBA Executive Says Andrew Wiggins Wants To Stay With The Warriors, But Jordan Poole Could Leave To Seek A Bigger Role

Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole were both key members of the Golden State Warriors 2021-22 championship team. Andrew Wiggins established himself as a player that is capable of providing contributions on both ends of the floor. Wiggins is known for guarding the best opposing player while also giving the team supplementary shot creation. Jordan Poole showed that he is a capable shot creator during the season as well, at times being the No. 2 scoring option behind Stephen Curry.   Both players will be free agents at the end of the 2022-23 season. There is no doubt that the Golden State Warriors likely want to keep both of them but will face huge luxury tax penalties if they do so. Andrew Wiggins Wants To Stay, But There's A Chance Jordan Poole Leaves An NBA executive has spoken to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, claiming that Andrew Wiggins is "pretty well set" on remaining a Warriors player in the future if the team ends up paying him. However, he suggested that Jordan Poole m...

Stephen Curry says he regrets not boycotting 2014 playoff game against Clippers amid Donald Sterling scandal

With four championships and multiple MVP Awards to his name, Steph Curry is one of the most well-decorated, and successful, players of his era. But just because Curry has had an amazing run doesn't mean that he doesn't harbor any regrets regarding things that transpired over the course of his career. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Curry revealed that one of his biggest regrets is not boycotting a 2014 playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers after the team's owner, Donald Sterling, was exposed for racist behavior.  "One of my biggest regrets is not boycotting the game," Curry said. "That was a moment to leverage beyond anything we probably could have said."     At the time, Curry and his teammates wanted to walk off of the court immediately after the tipoff, but they ultimately went along with the Clippers' protest of choice, which included wearing warmup shirts inside out, taking them off and laying them at midcourt prior to the ga...

Stephen Curry confirms the Warriors discussed trading for Kevin Durant this summer

The Golden State Warriors just won their fourth title in eight years, and are primed to contend for a second straight title by running it back with the same roster. However, Finals MVP Stephen Curry confirmed a report that surfaced in July about the team's interest in acquiring Kevin Durant after he requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. A potential reunion was considered "highly unlikely" at the time, as The Athletic's Marcus Thompson reported that Golden State's stars weren't pressing the front office on the idea, but rather "stunned" that it was even a possibility. Well, Curry just confirmed those rumors during an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that he was "never hesitant" about the idea of playing with Durant again. "There was a conversation internally about 'If he was available, would you?' I was never hesitant," Curry said. "Every team has those conversations, and obviously, they're gonna call me ...

Stephen Curry reveals the one team he would play for besides Warriors

Stephen Curry is synonymous with the Golden State Warriors, and he's said several times over the years that he wants to retire with the only team he's ever suited up for. Just recently in July, fresh off his fourth championship and first Finals MVP, Curry said of the Warriors, "I don't want to leave ever. I want this to be my one and only home." Though no one expects Curry to leave the Warriors, he did leave the door slightly ajar for the possibility of playing for one other team in the league. While receiving the key to the city of Charlotte on Thursday, Curry brought up the topic of playing for his hometown team. "I've always said I wanted to finish my career out in Golden State because of how much it means to me, and the experiences and teammates and the journey that we've been on," Curry said. "Everybody asks me, 'Wouldn't you want to play one year for the Hornets and come back and see what ...'" The crowd began applau...

Kevin Durant trade rumors: Warriors stars discussing possibility of reunion, but deal is unlikely, per report

This summer's NBA offseason has been all about trades, and we've already seen a number of blockbusters over the past few days. The biggest deals are yet to come, however, as the futures of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving's with the Brooklyn Nets hang in the balance.  As one of the best players in the league, and with four years left on his contract, Durant is expected to fetch one of the biggest trade returns in league history. The problem is that making such a trade is not easy. Only a few teams have the requisite talent and draft capital to make a deal, and do so without gutting their roster.  Ironically, one of them is the Golden State Warriors. Durant making a return to the Bay Area after his dramatic departure a few years ago would be quite a story, and even him and his former teammates haven't been able to avoid discussing the possibility. However, such an outcome is "highly unlikely," according to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.  The Warriors supers...

Minnesota Timberwolves Passed On Stephen Curry Twice In The NBA Draft, Failed To Land Klay Thompson In A Blockbuster Trade, And Traded Andrew Wiggins To The Warriors

The Golden State Warriors team and their fans are currently the happiest in the entire league. After all, the Dubs recently won the 2022 NBA Championship behind a sensational all-around performance. Winning this title meant the Warriors won their fourth ring in the last eight years. Truly, a phenomenal achievement. The Warriors deserve all the credit in the world as most of their talent is homegrown and was actually drafted by the franchise. But the Minnesota Timberwolves certainly deserve some credit for the success of the Warriors. Now, before you call us out, let us explain. The cornerstone superstar for the Warriors in their successful run for almost a decade has been Stephen Curry. Curry has truly changed the way that teams play in the league now with his amazing three-point shooting. Additionally, any team needs a Curry-like superstar to even think of winning an NBA Championship. He was drafted by the Warriors using the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. But before the...

Donovan Mitchell, Seth Curry, Karl-Anthony Towns, And More React After Warriors Win 2022 NBA Championship: "Don’t Talk About Steph Again Unless It’s In A Convo With The All-Time Great Players!"

The Golden State Warriors just clinched their 4th NBA Championship in 8 years on the home court of the Boston Celtics after winning the Finals series 4-2. Game 6 saw the Warriors walk out of Boston with a 103-90 win and the Larry O'Brien trophy.  The stars of the NBA had their eyes glued to the screens as the Warriors closed out the win to re-establish their dynasty atop the league. This was a fantastic season for the NBA and the Warriors have proven their extreme effectiveness in playing championship basketball.  Players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and others have already shared their messages with the Warriors for emerging from the fog of this chaotic season as the NBA Champions once again. For many of these players, the Warriors dominating is all that they have seen in the modern NBA.   Seth Curry @sdotcurry Don’t talk about Steph again unless it’s in a convo with the time great PLAYERS!! And i mean a hand full of people to ever touch a basketball. Vic...

Magic Johnson Thinks Stephen Curry Should Be Finals MVP Even If The Warriors Lose To The Celtics: "He's Been Dominant In The First 4 Games."

Stephen Curry has been spectacular in these NBA Finals, and there's no doubt that he has been the best player in the series thus far. In the 2022 NBA Finals, Stephen Curry has averaged 34.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 3.8 APG. Magic Johnson is widely considered to be the greatest point guard of all time, and there's no doubt that he is someone who often provides insightful opinions on the happenings in the NBA. Recently, Magic Johnson claimed that Stephen Curry should be the Finals MVP no matter who wins the series, as he has been absolutely dominant throughout the first 4 games of the Finals. I think no matter who wins the Golden State vs. Boston series, Steph Curry should be the MVP because he’s been dominant in the first four games! We haven't seen a player from the losing team win the Finals MVP for a long time, not since Jerry West managed to win the Finals MVP award in 1969. However, it is certainly possible, and Stephen Curry's numbers suggest that it could happen again....

Stephen Curry Thinks The Warriors' Championship Window Will Still Be Open After This Season: "We Have A Lot Left In The Tank."

The Golden State Warriors are obviously a top-tier team, and they are one of the best dynasties that the league has seen. They have won 3 championships during Stephen Curry's tenure, and they could potentially win their 4th at the conclusion of this year's Finals. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are having success now, but there's no doubt that the trio isn't getting any younger. That has led some people to believe that this might be their last chance to win an NBA title. However, Stephen Curry seems to think otherwise. When asked about the Warriors' championship window, Stephen Curry claimed that the Warriors still "have a lot left in the tank". Their team has also been bolstered with younger talented players like Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins in the last few years. "We definitely feel like we have a lot left in the tank."  -Steph on how long the Warriors championship window could last #NBAFinals We've talked about that....

Stephen Curry NBA Finals injury update: Warriors star good to go for Game 4 vs. Celtics, per Steve Kerr

The Golden State Warriors lost Game 3 of the 2022 NBA Finals, 116-110, on Wednesday night, but an even bigger storyline that emerged from the loss was a left foot injury to superstar guard Stephen Curry. Late in the fourth quarter, Curry was in some serious pain after Boston Celtics big man Al Horford appeared to land on top of Curry's lower leg during a scrum for a loose ball. However, while the initial injury looked rather troublesome, Curry vowed to play in Game 4. Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed Curry will be good to go Friday night. When asked how confident he was that he could play Friday without being limited, Curry said "I'm going to play, that's all I know right now." Earlier in the day it was reported that there was optimism within the Warriors camp that Curry evaded a major injury and he won't need an MRI, according to The Athletic.  When the injury occurred, Curry stayed in the game for several more minutes, though he appeared to be laboring arou...

Marcus Smart says Celtics ready to respond to Warriors' physicality in Game 3: Fight 'fire with fire'

The increased physicality of Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals, which the Golden State Warriors won in convincing fashion to tie the series with the Boston Celtics, has been a major talking point in the following days. Draymond Green's ability to set the tone/antics depending on which side you're on, have been a focal point.  On the very first play of the game, Green met Al Horford well beyond the 3-point line and forced a jump ball. He carried that intensity throughout the game, and was instrumental in the Warriors' win. At the same time, he once again came close to crossing the line and hurting his team. He picked up a technical foul in the first quarter after getting into it with Grant Williams, and could have had another one after an incident with Jaylen Brown in the second quarter.  While Green is well aware of the fact that he's playing with fire at times, he told reporters on Tuesday that he feels it's his responsibility to play with intensity and give his team...

2022 NBA Finals: Jayson Tatum's historic playmaking helps Celtics steal Game 1, puts Warriors on the back foot

When the Boston Celtics hired Ime Udoka to be their new head coach last summer, he wasted little time setting expectations for the team's star players, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. During an interview with "Jalen & Jacoby" in August, he put the onus on those two to make everyone around them better.  "We have multiple handlers. We have multiple playmakers," Udoka said. "That's an area where we need to see growth with Jaylen and Jayson. It's not just scoring the basketball. It's those guys initiating the offense and being better playmakers. That's the next step in their evolution." Easier said than done, of course, and this season was not always a smooth ride. But Udoka had a vision of what this team could look like when those two fully embraced their playmaking abilities; it came to life on Thursday night. Tatum went 3-of-17 from the field, and the duo combined for just 36 points, yet the Celtics won a Finals game on the road by ...

Stephen Curry leading the Warriors to another NBA title would stir up a new round of GOAT debates

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Golden State Warriors are closing in on a fourth NBA championship. Which means Stephen Curry is closing in on something even more impressive: The legacy of LeBron James, and the surprising spoils that come with such a chase. Because even if he doesn't catch LeBron -- and he may -- Curry is well positioned this month to pass names like Kobe, Durant, Bird, Magic and Wilt on the all-time great list. Through eight years of Warriors domination, Curry has been his team's talisman and catalyst. Under his surprising but unrelenting excellence, a rising tide of success and celebration has emerged because of him. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have emerged as sure-fire Hall of Fame players. Steve Kerr went from failed general manager and TV analyst to anointed as, literally, one of the game's best 15 coaches in the sport's history. Andrew Wiggins has reclaimed his promise. Jordan Poole went from G League hopeful to third splash brother. And so on. Curry s...

2022 NBA Finals: Three reasons why Celtics can beat Warriors, including Boston hunting Stephen Curry

With the Boston Celtics' Game 7 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday, the 2022 NBA Finals matchup is set. The Celtics, the East's No. 2 seed, with face the Golden State Warriors, the West's No. 3 seed. Game 1 is set for Thursday in San Francisco. The Warriors are favored (-155 to Boston's +135, per Caesars Sportsbook), but I'm taking the Celtics in seven. I think they match up very well with Golden State. Here are three areas the Celtics can work to their advantage to come out with the 2022 NBA championship.  1. Celtics switching vs. Warriors movement Not only is this Celtics defense arguably one of the best in modern history, it is perfectly suited to combat all Golden State's off-ball movement. Boston switches everything, which makes life for Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole difficult as they look to come clean off screens and misdirections. This has been reflected in the numbers.  There’s just not a team more defensively equipped to guard Gold...

Warriors' Stephen Curry wins the first Magic Johnson Western Conference finals MVP award

Stephen Curry has won the first Magic Johnson Western Conference finals MVP award. Curry helped lead the Golden State Warriors to a 4-1 series victory over the Dallas Mavericks by averaging 23.4 points and 7.4 assists for the series. The Warriors closed out the series on their home floor Thursday with a 120-110 win.  Stephen Curry is presented with the FIRST Earvin "Magic" Johnson Trophy awarded to the Western Conference Finals MVP! #NBA75 The victory sent Golden State back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2019, capping a three-year rebuild in which the Warriors reloaded following the departure of Kevin Durant in free agency. Their first season without him was marred with injuries as the Warriors finished with the worst record in the NBA. Last season was better, but Golden State couldn't even escape the play-in round. But now, with a healthy roster and the lessons of two lottery seasons learned, the Warriors are headed back to the mountaintop behind Curry.  Th...

Video Of How 'Fake Klay Thompson' Got Past The Warriors Security And Gets Shots On The Court

The Golden State Warriors ended up winning Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics and took a 3-2 lead in the series. It feels certain that the Dubs will win this series and win their fourth NBA Championship in the last eight years. While winning the finals will mean a lot for every player on the Dubs' roster, it will certainly mean more for Klay Thompson. Klay was sidelined due to injuries over the last two seasons and made a comeback this season. Finishing off the season with a ring will certainly be the cherry on top for him. Speaking of Klay Thompson, an incident took place around a certain lookalike of the Warriors' sharpshooter. We are sure you must remember the 'Fake Klay Thompson' who got famous a few years ago. Prior to Game 5 of the series, Fake Klay snuck into the Chase Center and got shots up before the matchup began. NBA fans found this hilarious, but it seems like the Warriors organization didn't. He was handed a lifetime ban from th...

Zion Williamson posts Instagram video of monster between-the-legs dunk while recovering from foot injury

Zion Williamson's status has been one of the great mysteries of the 2021-22 season. When he was initially diagnosed with a fractured foot, he was expected to be available in time for the beginning of the season. And then he wasn't. The New Orleans Pelicans offered only vague and inconsistent updates. Williamson himself never spoke. And now, with the season coming to an end, it appears as though Williamson won't be returning to the floor at all. After missing most of his rookie year, his third season is on track to come and go without a minute of game time as well.  Where that leaves Williamson moving forward, we can't say, but for the first time in months, the Pelicans forward gave fans a morsel of optimism. On his Instagram story, he posted this video of him doing a monster between-the-legs dunk. Zion Williamson just posted this to his IG story:  (And if you’re wondering if it’s recent, he’s wearing his new Zion 2 shoe in it) As Andrew Lopez of ESPN notes, the video ...

Dennis Rodman Once Said He, Michael Jordan, And Scottie Pippen Could Lock Up LeBron James: "LeBron Is So Easy To Play. He’s So F**king Easy To Play. He Doesn’t Have Any Moves."

If there is something that will never end it is the comparison between players from different eras. Even in that niche, most comparisons revolve around the legendary players from the Chicago Bulls. Yes, we are talking about the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. A perfect example of that was seen by fans back in a 2019 interview featuring Dennis Rodman. The Worm was asked about his thoughts on guarding none other than LeBron James. Rodman replied: (starts at 6:06) "You know who could lock up LeBron? Me, Mike, and Scottie could. F*ck yeah. I would have locked his a** up. LeBron is so easy to play. He’s so f*cking easy to play, he don’t have any moves. Only move he has is streak down the line. He ain’t got no moves. Where he going?? Where is he going that’s quick? That’ll be sh*t, you can stop that. Scottie Pippen would have shut his f*cking a** down quick before I get to him. His game is too simple, he’s just big. I’m 260 and 6’8” and 6’9”, that’s the onl...
