Marcus Smart says Celtics ready to respond to Warriors' physicality in Game 3: Fight 'fire with fire'

The increased physicality of Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals, which the Golden State Warriors won in convincing fashion to tie the series with the Boston Celtics, has been a major talking point in the following days. Draymond Green's ability to set the tone/antics depending on which side you're on, have been a focal point.  On the very first play of the game, Green met Al Horford well beyond the 3-point line and forced a jump ball. He carried that intensity throughout the game, and was instrumental in the Warriors' win. At the same time, he once again came close to crossing the line and hurting his team. He picked up a technical foul in the first quarter after getting into it with Grant Williams, and could have had another one after an incident with Jaylen Brown in the second quarter.  While Green is well aware of the fact that he's playing with fire at times, he told reporters on Tuesday that he feels it's his responsibility to play with intensity and give his team...

2022 Warriors Building Case To Surpass Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls As Greatest Dynasty Ever

The Golden State Warriors are headed to their 6th NBA Finals in the last 8 years. While that puts into perspective how crazy it was that LeBron James made 8 consecutive Finals, it is also much harder for a single team to enjoy that success over such a long period.  Players switch teams, stars get old, draft assets get depleted, etc. always break down once-great teams into lottery fodder. However, Golden State is in the third era of their core trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green and are going back to the Finals. The first era saw them win the 2015 title and lost the 2016 title in a shocking collapse. The second era was with Kevin Durant when the Warriors were basically unstoppable until injuries got them in 2019. After two years in the lottery led to some smart picks, the Warriors are right back there matching the 90s Chicago Bulls in terms of their proficiency in getting to the NBA Finals. Many people have been comparing these dynasties for years, especi...

Draymond Green on dancing with Grizzlies crowd in Warriors' blowout loss: We can talk smack, and 'embrace it'

No one expected the Memphis Grizzlies to blow out the Golden State Warriors by 39 points in Game 5 Wednesday night, especially without All-Star guard Ja Morant on the floor after being sidelined with a bone bruise on his right knee. But Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and the rest of the Memphis squad dominated the Warriors 134-95, and the Grizzlies crowd had some fun at the Warriors' expense during a timeout.  With Memphis up 126-80 and 8:40 left in the fourth quarter, the song "Whoop that trick" began playing on the speakers during a timeout as fans in attendance began twirling towels around in the air. The song wasn't playing just because the PA workers enjoyed the 2005 movie "Hustle & Flow" in which the song originated -- although it is set in Memphis! -- but rather the Grizzlies trolling a comment Stephen Curry made prior to the game. Ahead of Game 5, Curry said Golden State's game plan was to "whoop that trick," obviously drawing th...

Draymond Green says Warriors 'going to win a championship' after Stephen Curry drops 47 points in his return

SAN FRANCISCO -- The best gift that Stephen Curry received on his 34th birthday wasn't a diamond-studded piece of jewelry, state-of-the-art electronic equipment, or designer clothes. It was something he'd been patiently waiting for nearly three years to receive. In Monday night's 126-112 victory over the Washington Wizards, the Golden State Warriors' core of Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson played in an NBA game together for the first time in 1,005 days. "To play with those guys again, it's extremely special," said Green, who was active for the first time since Jan. 5 due to back and calf injuries. "When it's not all three of us out there, there's still a void there. It's still empty. At least that's what I know I felt for the last two and a half years." Green wasted no time making his impact felt. He was on the court for just 11 seconds before he fed Curry for a wing 3-pointer off of their famed split-action. Green said ...

Draymond Green's injury seemingly knocked him out of Defensive Player of the Year race, but it shouldn't have

When Draymond Green played his last game, he was well on his way to locking up the Defensive Player of the Year award. He'd already crossed the even-money threshold at most books by early January despite starting the season as a roughly +2500 underdog. He was still favored for weeks after his Jan. 9 injury when the assumption was that he was missing time with a relatively minor calf injury. But as the weeks passed and a calf injury turned into a back injury, he slowly began to lose ground. Now, he's almost fallen out of the debate. Caesars Sportsbook has him at a preposterous +6000 due to the time he's missed. Six defenders have better odds than he does, suggesting that the books no longer have any faith in Green's candidacy whatsoever. While he's clearly surrendered his favored status, the notion that he should fall out of the race entirely seems a bit farfetched in context. Green is expected to return Monday against the Washington Wizards. If he does so and play...

Warriors' Draymond Green says he's targeting a return for March 14 against the Wizards

The Golden State Warriors may be getting some much needed help next week. Forward Draymond Green announced on his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show," that he's targeting a return date for Monday, March 14 against the Washington Wizards. Green hasn't played since Jan. 5 as he's been dealing with a nagging back injury. "I'm targeting my return next Monday the 14th vs. the Wizards," Green said. "That's the date that I'm targeting, I'm excited as hell. It's been two and a half months by the time I've played. I've never missed that much time during season, I once had an ankle injury that kept me out for a very long time in high school, but it was the offseason. This is something different for me, so I'm extremely excited to get back out there with my guys to try and help right this ship." When Green was originally sidelined with this injury it wasn't considered serious, but after the initial timeline turned from...

Warriors injury reports: No timetable for Draymond Green; James Wiseman unlikely to crack playoff rotation

James Wiseman hasn't played for the Golden State Warriors in almost a calendar year. He had surgery last April to repair a torn right meniscus, then a second surgery in December for "cleanup" purposes, further delaying his return. The Warriors have 19 games left in the regular season. There's still no word on when, or if, Wiseman will play in any of them.  If he does, it likely won't be for long or particularly meaningful minutes. On Friday, ESPN's Kendra Andrews cited a Warriors coach saying it's "highly unlikely" that Wiseman will be a big part of Golden State's rotation, especially in the playoffs.  You don't have to read too deeply between the lines to understand that Golden State is more or less punting on Wiseman's second season in hopes that he can be ready to fully pursue his potential in his third.  "What I will always keep circling back to is this guy needs reps," Steve Kerr said on Thursday when asked about Wise...

The Golden State Warriors need Draymond Green: 'He's the control center of everything we do'

"DUB NATION, are you ready?" The crowd roared its affirmation as the lights dimmed to announce the Golden State Warriors' starting five. Draymond Green's name was called first, followed by Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney and Stephen Curry. Curry's name is usually announced last, but the night of Jan. 9 was different. The finale was saved for the shooting guard who had waited 941 days to hear his name called again. Klay Thompson was finally back, and the Warriors were complete again. For all of seven seconds. Shortly after the ball was tipped, Green fouled the Cleveland Cavaliers' Darius Garland and instantly headed to the bench. Green had experienced some pregame calf soreness but wanted to be introduced in the starting lineup to honor Thompson's return. He has not played since. Green and the team said at the time that the move was just precautionary. Two months later, there is still no timetable for his return. The Warriors -- who were half a game behind t...

Video Of How 'Fake Klay Thompson' Got Past The Warriors Security And Gets Shots On The Court

The Golden State Warriors ended up winning Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics and took a 3-2 lead in the series. It feels certain that the Dubs will win this series and win their fourth NBA Championship in the last eight years. While winning the finals will mean a lot for every player on the Dubs' roster, it will certainly mean more for Klay Thompson. Klay was sidelined due to injuries over the last two seasons and made a comeback this season. Finishing off the season with a ring will certainly be the cherry on top for him. Speaking of Klay Thompson, an incident took place around a certain lookalike of the Warriors' sharpshooter. We are sure you must remember the 'Fake Klay Thompson' who got famous a few years ago. Prior to Game 5 of the series, Fake Klay snuck into the Chase Center and got shots up before the matchup began. NBA fans found this hilarious, but it seems like the Warriors organization didn't. He was handed a lifetime ban from th...

Zion Williamson posts Instagram video of monster between-the-legs dunk while recovering from foot injury

Zion Williamson's status has been one of the great mysteries of the 2021-22 season. When he was initially diagnosed with a fractured foot, he was expected to be available in time for the beginning of the season. And then he wasn't. The New Orleans Pelicans offered only vague and inconsistent updates. Williamson himself never spoke. And now, with the season coming to an end, it appears as though Williamson won't be returning to the floor at all. After missing most of his rookie year, his third season is on track to come and go without a minute of game time as well.  Where that leaves Williamson moving forward, we can't say, but for the first time in months, the Pelicans forward gave fans a morsel of optimism. On his Instagram story, he posted this video of him doing a monster between-the-legs dunk. Zion Williamson just posted this to his IG story:  (And if you’re wondering if it’s recent, he’s wearing his new Zion 2 shoe in it) As Andrew Lopez of ESPN notes, the video ...

Dennis Rodman Once Said He, Michael Jordan, And Scottie Pippen Could Lock Up LeBron James: "LeBron Is So Easy To Play. He’s So F**king Easy To Play. He Doesn’t Have Any Moves."

If there is something that will never end it is the comparison between players from different eras. Even in that niche, most comparisons revolve around the legendary players from the Chicago Bulls. Yes, we are talking about the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. A perfect example of that was seen by fans back in a 2019 interview featuring Dennis Rodman. The Worm was asked about his thoughts on guarding none other than LeBron James. Rodman replied: (starts at 6:06) "You know who could lock up LeBron? Me, Mike, and Scottie could. F*ck yeah. I would have locked his a** up. LeBron is so easy to play. He’s so f*cking easy to play, he don’t have any moves. Only move he has is streak down the line. He ain’t got no moves. Where he going?? Where is he going that’s quick? That’ll be sh*t, you can stop that. Scottie Pippen would have shut his f*cking a** down quick before I get to him. His game is too simple, he’s just big. I’m 260 and 6’8” and 6’9”, that’s the onl...
